This post will be short, as the time is 1:00am and the generator (which is giving my laptop life) will only be running for another thirty minutes.
With today being our last day of ministry work while here, we got an early start in order to fit in three different service opportunities instead of the typical two (as well as a trip to the market to buy souvenirs/gifts/random items). The morning was dedicated to visiting another village, where we again walked door to door distributing food and Bibles. We also took the opportunity to pray with each family, and many of the team members were deeply moved by some of the stories and prayer requests the people shared.
In the afternoon we were able to make a return visit to the orphanage we visited on Friday to spend a little more time with the children, and the late afternoon / early evening was dedicated to another village visit to play with children, distribute clothes, goodie bags, and baseball/softball supplies as well as share testimonies and the gospel.
I dare say without a doubt though that the high moment of the day occurred after we returned to Denny's tonight. We came together one final time as a group for a time of Bible study, prayer, and worship, and the presence of the the Spirit was clearly present as we sang praises to our great God for what He has done this past week, followed by a moving time of prayer for each other, those whom we have encountered this week, and the city of Santiago.
At this time tomorrow, barring extreme flight delays or other such circumstances, we will all be back in our homes. And while it will be an incredibly joyful time to be reunited with our loved ones, I can say with certainty that a large portion of our collective heart will remain with the people of La Republica Dominicana.
