Where I stayed
Okay so now you can all calm down we're finally updating our journal. But you know what its like travelling around europe, all the seeing famous stuff thats really old, the relaxing on the beaches, the (window) shopping & all that eating really take it out of ya.....well the eating bit is a lie, we're always starving! we're looking forward to that chicken pie kathleen!!
So yeah about Rome. It was so long ago I can hardly remember but i'll try my best.
The WORST train ride! we sat in a little compartment for about 12 hours with 5 men, the old man was eating some smelly cheese and kept farting during the night....1 hour sleep is not so good for a first day in rome.
We finally got of the train and then got lost trying to find our hostel but this time it wasn't for long when we got there they said we couldn't check in till 4 and it was only about 8am! so being so tired and needing a shower we decided to head for the beach for the day. After being thrown out of the rich people part of the beach but a over muscular man waving his arms saying 'THIS NO GOOD!' we found ourselves a nice spot away from the water inbetween a heap of people.
We did all the touristy stuff the rest of the days. Checked out the Roman Forum did a tour of the colosseum which was worth the money as we learnt heaps of stuff, went to palantine hill where all the rich and famous lived back in the day it was really beautiful and it had the best view of Rome, we also went to the Vatican but didn't really go in we saw the Tombs of the popes and thats about it and then the Trevi Fountain. The only thing we missed out on was the Spanish Steps :(
Although Rome is an amazing city it has its downsides, there are alot of women begging for money, the drivers there are insane and ignore the zebra crossings so you just gotta walk out and hope for the best and its just got to much to see! afterwards you're just tired and hot. Luckely our hostel was amazing with cheap wine pasta parties on the roof and the best breakfast it was so big we kept some for our lunches!
So yeah that was Rome......next
