Petra is incredible! A 10,000 year old city buried deep in the mountains of Jordan, you have to drive across the desert for 200kms (140Mi) to reach it. Then you walk for half an hour deep into a canyon that has perfectly perserved this site for thousands of years, only to be rediscovered only 150 years ago. It is also the site in the Indiana Jones movie where they enter the crypts. I alked around for seven hours in the 45 degree heat with my fit 75 year old private guide, who gave me the workout of a lifetime! By the way, this is the first hotel room with a scale, and I have lost 12 pounds! Horay!
