No, im not on crack. They have the only indoor ski hill in the world here. You get into winter clothes, go up a ski lift, and you go skiing. Real skiing. OK, not Whistler skiing, but not bad, and you do not need a hat or gloves. You get up some good speed, there are moguls and turns, and you really feel like you are skiing on a real hill in Canada. Temperature inside: -3C (28F) degrees, outside, +46 degrees C (120F).
After that we went to the mall of the Sheik, which is exactly like a mall in Beverley Hills, and is filled with shoppers from all over the world. Also, there is no sales taxes here...but there is a Second Cup!
Tonight, we went to the Burj, the world's only seven star hotel, and had drinks in the bar on the top (37th floor). From there, you can see all of Dubai, inclding the 'Palm' a land development that resembles a palm tree that stretches out into the Persian Gulf, and 'The World' and offshore real estate developent that is being created to resemble the map of the world. Rumour has it that Phil Collins bought England, and Rod Stewart bought Scotland. It is still being built, but when it is done it will be the largest man made island development ever built. Oh, and they are also building the tallest office tower in the world, I almost forgot. In all there are at least 50 construction cranes hovering over the skyline of this amazing city. Tomorrow, it's off to Bahrain, an island nation smack in the middle of the persian gulf, between Saudi Arabia and Iran...
