from bangkok we took a night train to surrathani, where we arrived at 4am.  nothing like an all nite train trip to rock and roll u to sleep. we transferred from train, to bus, to boat and arrived on the island of koh phangan in the early afternoon. 

we loaded our backpacks onto a truck and got a ride to a had yao beach.  white sand beaches, bathtub seawater, and quiet beach atmosphere, we stayed at this beach for two weeks.  while on the island we rented a motor bike, which is very very common.  this way we were able to cool off during a hot day with the wind in yourface!!  a little scary for some but we managed to escape unscathed.

so what did we do for two weeks...snorkelled, kayaked, read, went to the markets, hiked to a waterfall, danso got reiki certified, went to the biggest beach party..the full moon party on had rin, saw thai reggae....we stayed at a lovely bungalow on a hillside, just steps from the beach called highlife. 

it was hard to leave had yao, but it was time.  so we decided to see a quieter side of the island.  had thien, where we had to take a boat or hike into.  we opted for the boat since we got a late start and the heat is unbearable with a backpack for anymore than 20 minutes!

we spent 4 nights at whynam beach, by had thein...in a bungalow with beach and sunrise views.  not much to do on this quiet part of the island, but be with nature and do some yoga on a perfect perch overlooking the ocean!
