on feb 21st we flew from hong kong to bangkok.
hot, hot, hot! we spent 5 nights backpackers haven of the city, an area called kao san. street after street of vendors selling food, clothes, cds, bags, jewelery. a shoppers paradise. we spent some time visiting some of the wats(temples). thailand is 95% buhhdist, there is a temple on nearly every other block (at least in the older part of bangkok). we also had a few thai massage, $5 for an hour...you almost feel guilty at that price. the technique that they use in the massage was very different of western massage..they incorporate a form of yoga into it. good stuff! there is decent mass transit subway & monorail. we visited a large market north of bangkok, where you litterally got lost in all the vendors. after 5 nights in the city - it was time to get to some clear air and head to the beach.
