So, quickly:

Went to Ooty, which is an old British hill station. I had to cross the border back to Tamil Nadu to do that, which means the smell of shit from open sewers and men pissing everywhere. It wasn't as good as Munnar, though it was supposed to be better.

Then went to Mysore. I was going to just be there a few hours, then get a connection on to Hampi, but it was nice enough to persuade me, on the walk to the  train station from the bus station, to stay a night. Very glad I did! Mysore palace is an absolutely ridiculously opulent place, like Versailles, but Indian. Sadly, no cameras allowed inside, which means me too, so you'll have to google it. But, please, google it!

Now I'm in Bangalore. There's something a bit Manhattan about this place, all super-dense but also very young-money. I saw a man with long hair, which was the first time in India, so obviously this place is a den of freaks.

I'm still having trouble getting pics to upload. It will require some time, which means I'll have to find an air-con net cafe - this one isn't!! - before I can sort that out. And then, hopefully, it will work.

Food: just had a Northern Indian thali - as compared to the "meals" (thalis) I've been mostly having in the south. It had more bread and paneer (cheese) which made a nice change.

Also had falooda - not to be confused with falooja - the other day in Ooty. It's a mix of all things dessert-like: ice cream, syrup, sprinkles, fresh fruit. The whole nine yards, honestly. There's something really American about a dessert like that....

Right, so... finally it let me add some goddamned pics.

So, these are the pretty tea fields of Munnar, and some sweets from a 'High Class' veg restaurant in Coimbatore. Probably the only good thing about Coimbatore was that I took those three pics.
