I remember watching the Commonwealth games in 1998 and thinking how great Malaysia looked and wishing I could go there - and now we're here, in KL home of the '98 Games!!!

Normally we find a decent drinking establishment that isnt too touristy, but here we failed.... Normal thing of places being to lordy, but we couldnt avoid it - a real ex-pat hole... Planet hollywood, TGI Fridays, Hard Rock Cafe..... (OK so we avoided THEM) Still ended up paying more for two beers than we did for our hostel and evening meal put together!!!! We felt sick!!!!!!!

Ended up in a club where a fair few people were drinking Moet!!! Decent night out, although we werent allowed to drink on the dancefloor which riled me a tad. Rat danced with a fairly hefty Indian girl, so I was left to dance with a couple of slim Oriental's, such is life!!

We always thought that squat toilets were old fashioned, but it seems they are the toilet of choice - Even in brand new Stations, Airports, Shopping malls and clubs the squatter is dominant - and if we're lucky enough to find a western one, chances are it will have no loo roll and will have footprints all over it, where a previous user has squatted on it!!!

KL by day seemed fairly calm (bar the traffic and the markets), lots of nice open spaces, trees, fountains etc - but not that much to actually see. People here are a lot less friendly than elsewhere in Malaysia, probably as there's so many tourists here. We went to the national museum and the planetarium, which rat enjoyed as he got to play with lots of things. I think it was designed with children in mind.....

Had another fantastic curry, loads of crazy dishes brought out - so much better than the boring monodish curries back home!!
