Arranged day before for a tuktuk to meet us after breakfast at hotel to take us to Galle (1500 rpees), we squeezed our bags in and off we went. Stopped on way to take photo of stilt fisherman in Walligama(?) and at a turtle sanctuary (500rpees v free at Mirissa!) where we saw some baby turtles and heard about the work they are doing. Arrived at Galle station a bit after an hour,

Left bags at train station (50rpees a piece) and then headed off for a walk within the fort and then along the walls. On the way we popped into the cricket stadium for a few photos. Saw some churches and old colonial buildings, then we moved up to the walls overlooking the ocean. Very pleasant place, or at least it was until about 7 eighths of the way round when the heavens opened.

We rushed to the bus station to find something to eat. Nothing too appetising around, but then across the road we spotted a bakery with a restaurant upstairs. This was most authentic place we went on our trip with no tourists in site, but English speaking staff and menu. I had the kotu rotti which was amazing and a massive portion. Josefina had some soup. Then to bakery for some little cakes and some jelly and ice cream milky desert thing.

Back to train station, picked up bags and then tuk tuk to Mirissa (800rpees)
