Just finished tomorrows lesson plans after playing a sci-fi role playing game with a new group of friends. I took a cab right after work and then the subway to Peter's house. He is a guy I met on a web site designed to hook gamers up with groups. On the way home at 11:00pm the subway was packed. I guess the culture here runs later then I am used to in Ottawa. Or maybe it's all the people here in this metropolis. Either way I am happy that I was able to go by myself and find this new group of friends in another part of the area.
I was supplying for the last two days for a fellow teacher that went to Japan to get her visa. She has the youngest kids in the school at 4-5 North American years old. I must say that I am exhausted from the last few days and will put that job right up there with breaking rocks with Jeff Thue as far as difficulty goes. Makes me think of a comment a friend of mine who is a teacher heard from his relatives
It was my birthday on Tuesday. Turned 33. I asked some of my older students how old they thought I was...the oldest I got was 24, nice. I can't realize how fast things are happening over here. The days fly by turning the weeks and even months into distant memories. I went for tuna with friends and then out for a beer after. The night ended with the latest episode of Heroes. A chill birthday as compared to past ones that may or may not have included a stage, some scantily clad dancers, a belt, some welts where the sun don't shine, and a laughing Robineau pointing his finger at me.
Tried to stick to a 500,000 WON a month budget with minimal success. Looks like I'll have to up the ante to keep afloat. Opened a bank account Tuesday. Starting to feel more grounded in the predictable, paying bills, cooking at home, getting hooked on certain TV shows, and all those things that come with a responsible lifestyle. At least until Christmas when Abdel, my South African friend and I head to Taiwan to surf over the holidays. Change of plans from Thailand. I bailed on the girls from work thinking that I would have a better time with Abdel. I did feel like it would not be as much fun as what Abdel and I will do in Taiwan such as stay in hostels, surf, and visit temples. I also have a couple of friends there so would be nice to see them too.

Dropped a coin out of my wallet while changing subway lines tonight and a gentleman ran to me to give it to me...he's good people.

Dolphin Class and KevinTeacher
. I can't quote it specifically but it runs along the lines of "teachers don't really work." I beg to differ. Between wiping runny noses and trying to maintain structure and order in a class where young children are just beginning to enjoy the ability to chat and gossip, I have a new found respect for those people that work with the youngest children. Way to go mom! It was my birthday on Tuesday. Turned 33. I asked some of my older students how old they thought I was...the oldest I got was 24, nice.
