It has been a whirlwind. We have explored barely even the tip of the iceberg and there are still so many things we want to see. Good thing we will be passing through here at least two more times.

We got to see the Grand Palace.  Another beautiful Wat and Royal grounds. The main attraction was the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, which houses a solid Jade Buddha. No pictures were aloud inside but I was able to get shot from the outside through the door.  The inside of these temples are very ornate and intricate.  Murals line the walls and the alter on which the Buddha sits is magnificent.

Yesterday was a lazy day. We didn't leave our little part of town until noon.  Usually we are up and out by 5am as we are still getting accustomed to the time difference. We have been taking advantage of the plentiful availability of foot massages.  At 100 baht for a half hour (3 dollars) we feel pretty pampered.  We headed out to see the Vinmamek Mansion, which is the largest teak building in the world.  It was built in 1900 and was the Kings Home. After we took a stroll down Khao San Rd., trying to get in the mood for some shopping but the amount of things to choose from is overwhelming.  After our second shower of the day, we headed out to a night market which was once known for being the red light district.  It was unimpressive to say the least.  The three blocks of vendors all sold the exact same items at over inflated prices.

Now we head off to Koh Samet.  I am looking forward to relaxing on the beach. :)
