Well, I am here and settling in.

Have had a long day.  Being the cheapo I am, I decided to take a local bus from the airport to downtown.  Figured I was in no rush, and the 1.50 peso fair versus the 33 peso shuttle was worth it (3 peso/USD) even though the local was 2 hours versus the 45 min shuttle.  Well, that would have been all and good if I had any idea where I was on the bus.  Long story short, I got off the bus on the right street, but about 25 blocks to early.  Now, the smart move would have been to go ahead and try and catch another bus or a cab...but OH NO, not me, I decide, hey, I will see a little of the town that is not in the guide book.  Oh well, it was interesting, just a dense middle class neighborhood, but lots of pastry shops, restaurants, butchers, etc for me to poke my head into.  But, now my feat are just aching.

Made it to the hostel, which is really a neat place in an old building.  Got checked in, and headed off to find food.  It was now 3PM, 6 hours after I landed...and I still had not had coffee!  But, still figured I would walk back to the more local neighborhood and have my first meal in a local cafe.  Found just the place and had a steak melinase(sp?), pretty much a fried steak served with mozzarella and ham, and a tomato sauce, with fired.  Huge and filling.  That with a cafe con leche ran me all of $US5.  I think I will like this place.

The town is neat, has a definite eurpoean feel, but is also distinct in its own,  The people are friendly.  The weather is cool and nice.

Here is a picture from the rooftop of the hostel, there is a little bar up there

I thought the dollar was in the can?
$5 for that wonderful sounding meal? And you're thinking of coming back? Stay there so we all have someone to visit! It sounds wonderful so far. I can't wait to see more pictures and hear more about the food!

Typical Nathan
This is why we love you Nathan. Only you could make getting from the airport to a hostel an adventure. Of course I would have already lost my purse, so I guess I shouldn't be throwing stones.
