I had tried to Google the location of the closest chapel, but my room's link was broken. I drove up and down the street the chapel was supposed to be on, but couldn't find the address. I stopped at one end of the street (an intersection) and happened to see a sign that showed the street made a 90 degree turn and headed north. I turned the corner and a couple blocks up I found the chapel. How strange is it for a street to make a 90 degree turn and not change names? Anyway, I arrived an hour early and found the chapel completely dark, but I made the most of it by resting my eyes until some ward members arrived and turned on the lights.
The road the chapel is on continues north and turns into the road that goes past Washington's Crossing State Park. I took several pictures and walked around the grounds before I drove over to the Delaware side before driving toward downtown Philadelphia
By the time I got to the historical section of town and the Visitor's Center all the tickets for Independence Hall had been given out. I went to the Liberty Bell building and spent a few minutes there before walking around Independence Hall block. I spent a few minutes overlooking the square from a veranda at the east end of the Visitor's Center during which time I called Alene and had a very nice visit where she told me about her recent trip here. It was very hot so I didn't feel like walking around the town and I left for Washington.
I arrived in Washington around dusk and the Temple was beautiful above the trees as I drove around the beltway. My hotel was near the Iwo Jima Memorial and I got there rather easily.
