Am pretty much prepared (as much as I can be) for it all now and only have the daunting task of packing ahead of me. Oh, and learning Spanish - fairly vital given very few people speak English in SA. Somehow I just cant get motivated by my Learn Spanish by CD method but I know Im going to regret it once I hit downtown Bogota and cant understand a word anyone says!
Im really starting to think about all those things that Im going to miss while Im away. My sofas, my bed, cups of tea, News of the World on a Sunday morning, Heat on a Tuesday morning (I'll let Jos and Peita fight over who gets my subscription copy!), and of course all of my friends! Yikes, 6 months without gossiping about the latest celebrity breakup or the state of Justin Timberlake's firm young buttocks is going to be so hard! You all better keep me up to date!
I dont really have a exact plan on what Im going to be doing other than a vague idea of which country I should be in at certain times of the year. Im going to play it by ear and see where I end up. I do have a few key destinations in mind though - my mind is going crazy at the moment with thoughts of lying on a hammock on the Caribbean coast in Colombia and being a monkey keeper in the Bolivian jungle. And I cant wait to feast my eyes on Macchu Picchu and the huge stone moai on Easter Island. I am SO going to shake my butt furiously in Rio although am worrying about squeezing my not-so-small arse into a Rio style bikini (ie. very little fabric, lots of string - not good on a butt like mine!)
I know there are going to be so many mad adventures ahead of me and its going to be the trip of a lifetime....
Well, like I said, only 3 weeks to go. The next time you hear from me I shall be in Colombia! Please send me regular emails and keep me up to date on all the latest goss at home and in NZ/Oz. I hope you find this travelogue entertaining!
Here's to having a completely mad 12 months ahead of me!
