As promised, just a quick update of my explorations in Antigua, Guatemala.

We arrived in Antigua and had a farewell dinner as a lot of people were flying out of Guatemala the next day. We ended up going to a cuba club with a live band. I now know I do not like Cuban music.... it's so random and out of time, the musicians were playing the wrong notes all the time and didn't seem to notice!!!! Arghhhhhhh....... it was like torture!

I moved to my hostel the next day and spent the day exploring the local markets. That evening we had another farewell meal as more people were to be leaving the following day... we left a note at the hotel reception letting everyone know where we had gone for dinner... more people kept showing up!!! Clive and I had finished our food so moved to the bar to make room for the new arrivals!!! I discovered that apple vodka, fresh lime and 7-up makes a lovely drink... doesn't taste too alcoholic but after the 3rd your tongue stops working properly!!! The guys insisted that I didn't stay at my hostel and stay in one ofthe spare beds we had at the hotel. We took a short trip to my hostel to collect some things... Clive took a liking to my SIMMs rag week 2002 t-shirt (it's a deal, it's a steal...) and decided to wear it back to the restaurant! He got quite a few funny looks as it's was very tight on him!

Another day in Antigua came and went and so another farewell dinner: this time mine! We went back to the same restaurant as the night before and had yet more apple vodkas!

My last day was spent at Chichicastenango markets and Lake Atitlan. I went independantly of my tour group  (the tour continued with 16 people for another week) but managed to catch up with them in a traffic jam! I spent what I thought was the remainder of my money and bought far too much stuff. I discovered when I got to USA that I still had 200 Quetzales left (about GBP13 which would go a long way in Guatemala!). Nowhere will change Quetzales outside of Guatemala!

I had another early shuttle to the airport: 4am. This time my alarm worked properly and I was up and ready at 3.50am. Unfortunately the shuttle didn't turn up until 4.30am!!! I arrived at the airport at 5.15am for my 6.20am flight! My flight was showing as already boarding as I checked in!! I had to get a connecting flight at Houston to Orlando. My plane landed an hour before my next flight and it took forever to gt through American security... I quite literally ran through the airport t makemy connecion. I discovered when I landed in Orlando that my luggage had not made the flight and would be arriving later in the day and then be shuttle to me... eventually. I did get my luggage back later that eveing so all is good for now.

That's all for now folks..... Will update you on my Florida adventures at some point in the next week or so!

Photos coming soon...
