Another border crossing behind us we headed to Flores which would be our base for exploring Tikal - yet another ruin site!
We then headed further south to Rio Dulce where we were staying in a great hotel right on the river. The hotel owner had invented Kevin dollars - worth 5 Quetzales each so that the bar staff didn't need to handle money and he didn't need to buy more tills!!! A great night was had by all... I had the worst ever Pina Colada here however as it tasted like it had been made with off milk!!! I had to send it back - I think it may have just been the rum though. We ended up in the pool playing paper, scissor, stone. Whoever lost had to do a shot of whisky!
We took a boat trip to Livingston the next day which is part of Guatemala but has very Jamaican feel to it (i'm told... i've never been there!).
The following morning I was not a well bunny! I felt incredibly nauseous and gave my room mate a wakeup call she didn't want to hear!! We had travel day ahead of us and I was not looking forward to it. Luckily for me and the rest of the coach, I didn't get sick again! We crossed the border into Honduras and headed to Copan Hot Springs which was great timing as my entire body now felt like it was falling apart. However, my relief was short lived as I started feeling like I was getting the flu! A good nights sleep and doing absolutely nothing the next day seemed to cure me. That and only drinking banana milkshakes for 2 days! As I was not well I missed out on the last of the ruins: Copan. I think I can cope with this as I was starting to get bored of them... we heard the same stories over and over at each site.... arghhhhh!!!!
From here we headed back into Guatemala to Antigua.
Nearly up to date... w'hooo!!!!! One short update following soon! x
Photos coming soon...
