Arriving in San Francisco was a bit of a shock to the system as it was cold and foggy and i'd spent the last 3 weeks in extreme heat! I decided to go back to The Golden Gate Bridge to see it with different weather (and more traditional for San Francisco). It looked just as spectacular as in the bright sunshine!

I spent the afternoon at Alcatraz and took the audio tour around the prison narrated by some of the old guards and prisoners. I'd highly recommend it to anyone who finds themselves in San Francisco...

Our hostel had live music on in the evening and Louise (room mate) and I thoroughly enjoyed the warm up act but when the main act started I had to retire to bed it was that bad...

The following day was spent wandering around... I walked from my hostel on Broadway to the Union St shops onto the palace of fine arts (in the movie 'The Rock') down to fishermans wharf and then back to my hostel... this is not a short walk!!! I discovered that my 'back up'flip flops are nowhere near as comfortable as Havaianas and developed blisters along the top of my feet! grrrrrr....

Set out the next day to try to buy some new havaianas but I couldn't find a single retailer that sold them!!! Arghhhhh... will have to check in Mexico when I get there....

I did end up buying myself a few new tops though (damn my lack of self control) and had a bit of trouble fitting them in my backpack... still carrying far too much stuff!

More touristy stuff: I took the cable car from Market St to Fishermans Wharf and then went on a bay cruise. All this left me exhausted and I was being picked up at 4.30am to catch my flight to Mexico. I decided it would be a good idea to completely pack minus the few things I needed for the night. Turned out to be the best decision I could have made... My phone alarm went off but silently.. I woke up when the hostel knocked on the door of my room telling me the shuttle had arrived to take me to the airport!!! I had to pick up my bags and go which is not that easy at the best of times but when i've just woken up it's a nightmare....

Will update again before I leave Mexico City on saturday...
