Prague is a beautiful city.We stayed a short way out of the city centre and took tram 22 in.  I was a bit surprised to discover that Wencelas Square is long and thin.  Great statue at the top though of Wenceslas on a horsey.
The Astronomical clock is an amazing piece of work and well worth loitering to see.  It's in Old Town Square I think - my memory is a bit shaky...  I do remember that we were there for my birthday and I had to keep out of the pubs on the day because there was some football match on - England v Germany?? - and there were yobby men everywhere.  Luckily, we found a nice restuarant and ate in peace.  We went for something nice and Czech - boar with bread dumplings in a red wine sauce.  It was a seriously heavy meal.  The meat was really tasty and I did like the bread dumplings, although English-style dumplings are nicer.
Natuarually, we make our way over Karlov Most / Charles Bridge - past the site of some famous defenestrations.  What a great word and how amusing to have your own special technique for disposing of dictators and the like.
The church on the hill was being reovated during our visit, which was a shame, but we did still get to enjoy strolling around the area.  I was very keen to look at Novy Svet, which was alleged to be very pretty.  Mr MS claimed to feel unwell and wanted to lie down in the park.  In the end, I dragged him to Novy Svet on the basis that I might never get another chance to see it, and he could be ill afterwards.  It did turn out that he wasn't faking the illness to get out of walking, as I had suspected, but was genuinely ill.  Still, he was better in no time.
On the tram on the way home an oldish man came up to mae and showed me a medal of some sort.  I assumed that he was a beggar and ignored him.  Fortunately, Mr MS has more sense than I do and explained that he was a ticket inspector.  D'oh!
