We cheated by taking a taxi from the overnight train in Satna to Khajuraho. we had heard from Shane that the road was really bad and there are frequent flat tires due to it so we took his suggestion and ordered a taxi.
we spent the day relaxing in quiet khajuraho, wandering and much needed down time. the only hassle we got was walking the gaunlet of the main street where hawkers jump at you every two feet. They try to sell you everything including kama sutra calendars and playing cards (this is the city where they filmed the movie Kama Sutra). "Where are you from?" "Canada" "OH! Cool Cool Canada!" (all the time) I started saying I was from India just to change it up a bit!
had dinner at the blue sky restaurant overlooking the "sound and light show" at the temples. Not too impressive but the meal was good. we were glad not to have spent the 300Rs on the show.
Met Al from Spain on the train and (rhyming,...) and he joined us for dinner. he convinced us to rent bikes with him the next morning to bike out the the temples in the eastern and southern part of town. it was really fun temple 1

. the temples are erotic but they are also a celebration of the female form and very interesting to see all the of the detail. They were all built around 1000AD. Enjoyed biking through the old village.
Anita and I ventured to the more well known Western Group of temples in the afternoon around sunset. we payed for the audio guide - a hilarious 1980's walkman with a cassette! but it was very informative and we giggled and marvelled at the temples for about 2 hours as the sun set. We will post photos but view discretion....
Went to bed early and both mornings we woke up early to try yoga. the first morning it was offered at our hotel and it was hilarious. we learnt a lot about how we need to teach our families to be vegetarians and to teach all to breathe and excercise and use pressure points in the hand. we even prayed to Shiva/ vishnu and brahma before we began. we also tried laughing yoga...interesting to say the least if not a bit of a crock
the second morning we rented bikes with Al again and rode about 2 kms to an ashram where a Yogi Master read our auras. it was an extremely interesting 2 hours and we gained a lot of insight from him. Here are some snippets of what he said.
Both of us were Indian in our past lives... Anita worked with children and monica was a gypsy. We still have those souls. we will both be successful in this life and our legacy will continue for at least 2 centuries.
monica has a quick mind and needs to move all the time in order to match body and mind riding bikes

. He suggested oriental dancing and teaching yoga as a way to achieve balance. SHe has 2 personalities. One that is very open and flexible and one that is more oriental and quiet - each comes out depending on the situation she is in.
Anita's 26th year (this one)  is a VERY good year for here with lots of change and self discovery. She needs to respect her principles and needs to learn how to say NO! She needs to not be strayed by love and by what men say. she is a romantic at heart but she supresses that and she needs to bring that out.
Without telling him that we were sisters he said he could sense a VERY strong connection between us. Once we told him why he was laughing.
it was fun to meet him and we are looking forward into exploring his ideas more. He gave us his website and books to read and suggested that we return one day to stay with him at the ashram. He said it was fate that we all met on that day as he was unavailable the other days and we happened to be there that day!
took a cycle rickshaw to the airport....about 6 kms away....and we nearly killed our driver! of course we had to choose the oldest driver in the city ! He was so skinny that we felt like it was grandma cycling us there with our HUGE packs too! we felt so bad that we gave him a huge tip over the price that we bargained so hard for!
had trouble with the pre-paid taxi guy in delhi who tried to rip us off. bit scary but we made it!

Gypsy
Hey Gypsy!

It is so much fun to read your stories.

I was laughing so hard about your line: Was it as good for you as it was for me?

Imagine that, yelling to 5.000 women! Hahahaha

Nice pictures too.

For how long are you going to be in India? and which country will be next?

Love Mar-k-i
