Took the air conditioned train from Udaipur. the car was practically empty. we chatted with an Indian couple who now live in Wisconsin. Interesting...
Got in to Ajmer around 10pm and didn't have any advanced booking for a hotel. there were no more buses to Pushkar and we didn't want to pay a lot for a taxi so we had the rickshaw driver take us to a hotel. the hotels were full so we drove from one to the other looking for a room. Anita would stay in the rickshaw while monica got out with the driver to see the hotel. at the 3rd hotel we went to Monica got in a 1m x 1m lift with the driver and a hotel guy and went up about 2metres before the power went out! Turns out that the power was out all over the city. Monica did not enjoy being trapped in that small pitch black place for about 5minutes or more while anita sat worried in the rickshaw on the darkened street with a big black bull walking right by her! scary!
found a hotel that had a room and monica and the owner had a stare down about the price of the room - ( i think there was whistling and tumbleweed floating past) in the end the owner drew first and monica had to cave. we paid a higher price for the room but on the plus side it had a TV so we could watch bollywood and fashion TV
Ate Chai and Roti for breakfast at a small place across from the train station before catching the public bus to Pushkar...
