Today I also after working a little on the survey have to figure out how to explain how to do the registration for the surveys and the eventual database. Which is scaring me. Luckily a new friend of mine, Eric, is a software architect (sounds so NYC and alas, that¡¦s where he is from) will be able to give me a tutorial on it¡K I hope
Rahel is still having issues with her internship. Apparently the African Union isn¡¦t the best organization to intern for. She talked to Ron yesterday for a long while trying to figure things out. She¡¦s not going to work right now, which means she may come and help do some stuff- I would be thrilled to have her here¡K though I¡¦m not sure what I¡¦ll ask her to do- maybe the database??? :)
It¡¦s weird being here has become really comfortable all of a sudden. Yesterday I bought rope for less than a Birr and spent 45 minutes skipping in my room. Yes I am crazy- but honestly, I need to train for the 10 k run somehow, and I can¡¦t afford any other way. And last nite I painted again, this time, I went crazy and decided to use a whole page of paper- I don¡¦t know if I like it or not- but it¡¦s better than nothing on my white walls. See attached picture, and if anyone has advice for painting with water colours please let me know. I accept any kind of criticism. I have oil pastels, which I am dying to use, but need turpentine or mineral spirit to use¡K I think I¡¦ll go look for them today.
It is weird how much you can grow inside and out of work
I feel slightly disconnected from Ramadhan this year, though I was expecting the opposite. There is no mosque near here- and it¡¦s pretty dark when I get home, so I am left on my own, to break fast alone f¼ but lately I¡¦ve been meeting the girls for dinner¡K it just makes it easier to get out of the house. And just for Nana, on Sunday night I joined a few friends to watch the Soccer game, Chelsea against Everton? It¡¦s crazy.. how it doesn¡¦t matter where you are in the world¡K soccer truly is the unifying force for so many. It reminded me of the world cup days and our chanting BRAZIL!!!
Anyhow, I should get back to work and developing the next survey/quiz about HIV knowledge.
Oh, Pam has decided to come visit me in December! YAY! And I hope that is incentive enough to those of you out there to book your tickets. I have become really good at squishing cockroaches, so those shouldn¡¦t be a problem anymore. promise!
