Hello Everyone,

This is our last entry to say that's us back to the safety of our cosy home and to thank all of you guys who followed us.I'd like to say that we'd been read by a million people and we were going to be paid 100,000.00 from for being so popular but that'd be pure sheer moment of an unlikely dream. Instead we have thousands of memories that we managed to share with you and we sincerely hope that you enjoyed sharing a wee neenee (Rowan's word for tiny) portion of them through this blog.

Our last few days in Ventura were just spent going to the beach and enjoying our last moments being on holiday. We had more nunel (=tunnel) constructions with Rowan followed by en masse destruction from him and Elodie. I think I must have built a few hundred sand tunnels during this holiday and i'm pretty sure all of them would have survived an earthquake, unfrotunately Rowan and Elodie made sure that wouldn't happen!

We also had our last barbecue near the beach, which i think would have been easier to lit in the eye of a cyclone than where we chose to be! We must have easily spent the good part of three hours to just keep the fire alive than to eat and enjoy the food. The wind was everywhere and we had to hide the tray behind a big tree to find a good shelter but even that didn't make up for the fact that the charcoal were barely hot. An american wallmart disposable bbq is definitely not as good as our good old asda one. I may have found the perfect british product to present and compare at the next gadget show...
Fortunately for us, the meat of our 7 pork sausages were precooked (Jamie Oliver might be well impressed by such an idea...) 'cause otherwise we would all have ended up with a worm inside our tummies. Neeny worms for the children! Still the same outcome though! Why 7 sausages will you ask? Simply because a ravenous seagull gulped one of them when I had a moment of weakness drinking down a wee sip of beer which I nearly choked from when Natalie pointed out the offense.

The previous night was less dramatic as we enjoyed a cool american dinner in the crowne plaza hotel next to ours. We chose a perfect outdoor spot with a fire pit in the middle of our table to heat us cosily all along our meal. We really enjoyed this moment in peace while Rowan and Elodie were sleeping in their push chairs.

So we left our hotel in Ventura on Friday and as we hit the freeway we sang once more on the tunes of California by Phantom Planet and a few others that Jojo had burnt on a CD just for our american trip. We'd wished to get the car's roof down for this memorable moment of us singing loudly, unfortunately the bears back in Yosemite Park had let us down and never came close to take our roof off despite leaving in the car all sorts of crisps, uncooked spaghetti pastas, bread and biscuit crumbs and even a mini carrot in a wee splash of milk turned sour in Elodie's car's cup holder....Incredible! Instead we sang with air-con full on to keep us cool...

We arrived at the airport no bother with 3 hours to spare. What did we do? Waited patiently for our flight to be anounced, then we embarked before taking off for our 10 hour long flight back to London. At least it wasn't that bad. The children managed to sleep a good few hours, which allowed me to watch 2 videos and drink a few gin and tonics with my lovely wife.

Once in Heathrow, we sat down for a few more hours before we took our connection flight to Glasgow. It was a bit bumpy but nothing bad as we made it okay to our final destination apart from the push chairs which had been left over in London. So for them it took a bit longer before making it back to their starting point. Better them than us for sure...

After being welcomed by Natalie's mum and dad, we had a lovely sausage in roll snack prepared by them before puting the children to bed around 6pm. We followed not far after them and woke up the next day at 2pm! I did forget to say that we had hardly slept during our trip back but I never had such a marathon sleep in my whole life - not far from 20 hours! Even the children were still asleep, which never happens! The only thing that must have woken them up was Natalie having gone to the kitchen to check the time on several clocks and watches (the time in our bedroom hadn't been set yet), rushing down the stairs and pushing the children's room door so hard that it would have woken up the sleeping beauty. Otherwise they would have carried on quite happily I'm sure...

So that was it. Our three months came to an end yesterday and it was all in all a great experience! Natalie and I will never forget that superb moment spent with the children around the world and we hope Rowan and Elodie will enjoy the stories and pictures we've taken along our trip.

See you all soon for our next crazy adventures xxxx

Enjoy some resting time, and hope to see you soon !
