We had a great notion to cycle over the golden gate bridge today. Believe it or not this was actually one of the better ideas we've had on this adventure since Rowan absolutely loved it and behaved the best I think I’ve ever seen him! He didn’t complain about the helmet and not a peep at being strapped into the baby chair on the back of my bike. Arnaud took Elodie who was not at all pleased at all about the hat situation. We were a bit worried about the whole bike thing since none of us (jo included) have ridden a bike in the last decade at least. But as the saying goes you never forget, and after a few wobbles we were on our way! Unfortunately the bridge was all foggy and a chilly wind so it was too cold to take elodie all the way so Arnaud and Elodie did a quarter of the bridge and turned back
Icecream actually turned out to be a frozen yogurt which was so delicious. I’ve seen it in the UK before but I’m not a huge fan of yogurt so never really tried it. But something about this wee place made me want to try it and it was delicious!
Feeling a tad saddle sore we decided to make matters worse by walking for an hour uphill to catch a tramcar up to Lombard street. Lombard street is the 'crookedest street in the world’ with 5 hairpin bends in it and cars are queuing up to drive down it. We walked down it and then onwards to fishermans warf for dinner.
Fishermans warf was brilliant, it’s absolutely full of restaurants and street stalls selling food while you can watch street magicians, dancers and bands. I decided to try the local speciality, clam chowder which gave jo the boke because it was served in a bit of hollowed out bread – it was delicious! The babies had everything from calamari to prawns to fish and the chowder. We stopped to eat beside a band who were so good that people stopped to dance in the street – wee rowan was in his element to eat and dance at the same time! Finally our legs can take no more so it’s time for a taxi home for a wee early night in our lovely hotel xxxx
