Having heard that there was a fairly large shopping village called "La Isla" further down the street from the “Riu Cancun” where we went by bus the other day, we decided to pay it a visit right after breakfast. After all, today was our last day here in Cancun and I just wanted to buy some more souvenirs.
The bus was taken without any problems and half an hour later, we were wandering inside the exterior grounds of the plaza. It had familiar restaurant chains such as Chili's and McDonald's among other ones. We browsed through several souvenir stores and boutiques as well as relaxing in between. A few items were purchased. such as T-shirts with "Cancun" embroided on it.
Security guards patrolled the grounds. They had machine guns in their hands which in a way, made me feel more unease than anything else!
Back at the hotel, the afternoon was spent lounging under an umbrella along the beach’s shore or walking back and forth on the warm powdery sand. It was a very gorgeous hot afternoon where the coolness the sea was quite refreshing. The water was crystal clear and we could see through it a fairly few feet away.
Occasionally, locals passed by selling anything from necklaces to shirts. A wool made multicolor blanket was purchased which had “Cancun” written on it.
Free lessons of scuba diving were being given at the hotel’s pool. Michel definitely had to give it a try. Even though the whole thing didn’t last very long, like half an hour, he enjoyed the sport whereas me I didn’t care much for it and didn’t try it.
For our last dinner, we chose to eat at the Italian restaurant where the food was once again delicious. After watching the entertainment show, we sadly retreated to our room and started packing our suitcases. This evening was our last one here; tomorrow we were leaving for back home!Monique :-)
