Day 6 - afternoon / evening
From having just snorkeled, my hair was all wet and tangled but this didn't stop me from exploring the many streets of this tropical island even though I must have looked a mess without any makeup on!
Many small cafes and terraces were seen on both sides of the narrow alleys as well as souvenir shops. Faded tiled roof houses appeared attractive as well as Spanish architectural structures with broken shutters and many flowers hanging from their windows! The island had this special tropical beauty that made me comfortable to walk around.
After an hour of wandering endlessly around the downtown streets and pier, we left on the catamaran and headed to a private beach located further down the island’s coast. The fun in the sun was just starting where the white powdery sand, green emerald palm trees and crystal blue water made it a place to be called paradise!
A good portion of the afternoon was spent here where we relaxed on the lounging chairs or even swam in the sea. Life couldn’t get any better than this! It was heaven on earth kind of place. A delicious hot and cold buffet lunch complete with Mexican and international entrees was greatly enjoyed as well as drinks. It succeeded in filling me up and re-energizing me as we walked around the beach!
By 4:30pm, we were back on board the catamaran where I settled at the same place as before, the bow! In the horizon, the sun was piercing through the clouds making its rays shine on the calm surface of the sea. It was a relaxing sail where the party was just starting!
All dressed up with Mexican sombreros and colorful punchos, the exployees went around giving rum to everyone to drink as Mexican music played loudly in the background. The fiesta was just starting and things got hotter as we partied on the catamaran!
It was a nice way of ending the tour, of ending a day spent in paradise. It was 6:00pm when we arrived back in Cancun and decided to take a cab for our short distance back to the hotel. After all, we were tired and sun-drenched and let’s not forget, had a little bit of rum in our bodies!
The evening was spent in the hotel’s lounge where more Pina coladas were drank while enjoying the atmosphere of the place. While thinking of all of you guys stuck in the miserable cold weather back home, I drank to your health once more! Hehehe! Monique :-)
