I remember this clearly as if it happened just yesterday……
Just three days before my much anticipated trip departing from Canada on March 5th to sunny Cancun, Mexico, we had the worst snow storm in history! Talk about bad timing! Since this particular snow storm was the second one within a period of one week, many roads were still closed and the streets still covered with blankets of snow creating chaos all over the Ontario Eastern Region!
You see, winter hadn't been nice to us this year…..we had snow storms after snow storms, the worst winter in so many years if you ask me! And we had only "one" to thank this for…...El Nino/La Nina!
But all of this was soon about to be forgotten as I was escaping the grip of Mother Nature by heading down south for much warmer and sunnier weather where the only storms in the forecast were rays of sunshine! But first, I had to get there……
A few days earlier, on March 2nd, Michel had traveled to Toronto on a business trip and was expected to arrive back home on the eve of our departure flight to Cancun. On the bright side of things, suitcases for our upcoming trip were prepared ahead of time just in case….so I was ready to leave on the spot!
However......on the morning of March 4th, things weren’t looking too good weather wise and to make matters worse, here I was all by myself, Michel arriving only in the evening! Listening to the news, a third major snow storm was in the forecast and had all of the ingredients to be called "The Perfect Storm" or if you ask me, "The Worst Storm of the Year! It was expected to hit us in the early hours of March 5th being my trip’s departure day putting everyone on panicking mode, including me!
I could only think of the worst, Michel being stranded in Toronto whereas me, in Ottawa and our trip going down the drain!
