By 7:00pm, Michel and I boarded our United Airlines plane and patiently waited for it to take off. We were already delayed by an hour and hoped for the best!
Looking outside my seat’s window, it had stopped raining and dusk had settled in. This was followed by the horizon rapidly transforming itself with the last rays of the sun! It appeared as if it was ablaze with its orange color!
We were now leaving South Africa and flying all the way to Dakar in Senegal. With this eight and a half hour flight duration ahead of us, I tried to make myself as comfortable as I could while being seated in my inclined seat.
We were here to refuel and for a handful of people to disembark! During this time, I continued to doze on and off but it was hard to do so with all the commotion going around!
The Atlantic Ocean was crossed as we headed towards Washington Dulles International Airport in Virginia, US! While flying well above the ocean in complete darkness, turbulence occurred more than I wished for and that “put safety belt on” light often came on!
But I couldn’t care less! I was desperately trying to sleep while being all cramped up in my seat.
