Day 25 - early morning
Day 18 - Northern Experience Tour
35 Celsius, cloudy, hot
During the night, every hour or so I kept waking up to the sound of the monkeys jumping constantly on top of the canvas tent!
They came alone or in pairs but they came and had a hell of a time throwing things around and fighting between themselves! Meanwhile, grunts, roars and loud wheezing sounds were heard within proximity of our tent. These were sounds of the hippopotamuses being really close by!
I held my breath while I listened to them hoping that they'll keep their distance and soon go away. Huge shadows from outside appeared on the walls of the tent but rapidly vanished within minutes.
Kept on tension all night long, now you know why I hardly closed my eyes and stayed wide awake! However, I’m happy to report that I’ve survived the night with no spiders hanging on my mosquito net this morning.
Looking wretched from sleep deprivation, in spite of that, I rapidly got up from under my mosquito nets and after taking a good hot shower, was ready to face the day ahead of me! Of course….Michel had to inspect the shower walls before I could go in!
Through the trees, I could see the rays of the sunrise appearing brightly in the sky. That was my cue to leave the tent and quickly walk to the main area’s deck! With Michel right next to me, together we witnessed the magnificent sunrise as it gradually rose in the horizon from behind a curtain of clouds.
Monkeys were on top of the trees looking at us and eating fruits. It felt good to be part of Mother Nature where everything around me was wakening up, where crickets could be heard singing loudly along the shore and where birds were seen flying in the sky!
It felt good to be here and to breathe the fresh air of this land regardless of my phobia of spiders! Breakfast was eaten soon afterwards which completely filled me up! I needed all my energy for our little outing of today!Monique :-)
