Day 21 - late evening
Day 14 - Northern Experience Tour
33 Celsius, warm evening, dark sky, half moon
Dinner was served at 8:00pm this evening and was prepared by none other than our guides Alex and NTando. While we ate outside in the campground section of this resort, luckily for me no mosquitos were around. The open fire probably helped in keeping them away!
By now, the sky had turned completely pitch-black but thanks to those candles placed by NTando on the long rectangular table, at least we could see a little bit as we ate. Plus, they definitely achieved in giving the place an enjoyable ambiance.
Michel and I were the first ones to leave the table. The evening was still young and I wanted to wander around this entire enclosed resort and see how it looked like at night with all the lights on.
Well, the entire place definitely succeeded in making me think of the movie Jurassic Park especially when entering the big fortress complete with high gates and torches everywhere. It was awesome!
Before retreating for the night, call me crazy or adventurous but I had to visit for one last time that waterhole. As you recall, I've been there this afternoon and earlier in the evening before dusk but never at night in complete darkness. It was now or never kind of thing!
Even though many torches illuminated the boardwalk, our dark surroundings kind of looked spooky with faint sounds being heard in the distance. It was a good thing that the waterhole wasn’t too far away or I don’t think I would have went.
Once again, no sighting of wildlife at the waterhole! It was probably better this way since Michel and I were the only ones there! Had there been lions or leopards, I wondered what could have happened! That rustic fence sure wasn’t very high and those electrical wires…..well, were they working or not! Michel’s little pocket knife definitely wouldn’t have been enough! Hehehe!
Tonight’s my last night here in this Etosha National Park! Tomorrow morning, my African journey will continue and new places will be seen and explored…..but as for my last three days here inside this National Game Reserve Park, what an amazing and incredible time I’ve had.....one that I'll cherish forever!
