Day 11 – morningDay 4 – Northern Experience Tour hot sunny day 30 Celsius
Even with the air-conditioning on, it was still very hot in the cabana last night! But I do have to admit that this was probably my fault!
You see, I was covered from head to toe looking like a mummy sleeping inside my silk liner complete with hood. Only my nose was showing because after all, I didn't want to suffocate! Plus, for extra protection I’ve asked Michel to install my mosquito net!
I might have looked like a fool but at least, I had peace of mind! I just didn’t want any creepy crawling insect coming on me or any of those geckos which probably hid in every corner just waiting for the right moment to attack me! Hahaha! As for Michel, he slept like a baby with no blankets on nor mosquito net!
The rays of the sun made their way inside the cabana making me quickly get up to look at the sunrise outside. It was 6:30am and I was beaming with joy…..plus knowing that I survived the night……and thinking that we had another gorgeous and wonderful hot day ahead of us as we prepared ourselves for this morning’s activity!
After a hearty breakfast, we were all ready for our morning’s excursion. With life jackets in hand, we were transported at 9:00am to another location further upstream where we were taught by the local guide the rudiments of paddling and the do’s and don’ts of the river. After all, this river had rapids in certain places along the way but have no fear….buckets were supplied and attached inside the canoe to keep our clothes, cameras, etc. dry in case we capsized! How reassuring!
Looking straight in front of me, the peaceful majestic Orange River was flowing through incredible landscape where no words can describe the visual beauty! I was anxious on getting started, to relax and to let the currents take me downstream! I should probably say here, let Michel paddle all the way while I relax! Hehehe!
To be continued….Monique :-)
