Day 5 – morning
I knew that the "Cape Wine Tour–Cape Town" wasn't on Michel’s favorite list of tours to do here in Cape Town! That instead, he much preferred going on the “Great White Shark Cage Diving Tour” to feel the thrills and adrenaline of being close to a real live shark!
But…..was I ready to risk it all and ruin my day by being seasick; after all the boat was going approximately 5 hours out at sea! Just thinking about it made me dizzy! So in the end…..who do you think won!
As promised, we were picked up at our Waterfront hotel at 8:15am by the tour company. Making ourselves comfortable in the minivan, Danny, our guide for the day proceeded driving down the road winding its way to the heart of the Cape Wine land through superb mountain ranges, vineyards and Cape Dutch homesteads!
Our first stop of the morning was at a local wine estate “Zevenwacht Winery” located in one of the Cape’s first farming districts. The private road that led to the main building allowed us to see beautiful grounds and lovely Manor House. No need to tell you…..I was glad I’d taken this tour!
We made ourselves comfortable around a square table and then proceeded tasting various wines as our host gave us information on each one of them. We had crackers and cheese to eat in between the tasting.
Not being much of a wine drinker, can’t say that I drank all of my glasses but instead, just barely tasted it! Michel did all the drinking! Ha, ha, ha!
The wine tasting was then followed by a cellar tour in which we got personalized insight into the finer points of wine-making. It was interesting enough and again, provided me with great photo opportunities.
Once everything was finished and over with, we were out the doors and off to the next town on the list! We were off to Stellenbosch feeling all happy! Except the driver of course! He couldn't drink!
To be continued….Monique :-)
