Day 13 - morning

St. Maarten's lush and tropical coastline could easily be seen from the distance with its rich emerald mountains rising high above the sea.

We were slowly cruising towards Phillipsburg known to be the French Riviera of the Caribbean, a town with Dutch heritage and an island which promised endless stretches of beaches, beautiful landscapes and great shopping.     Now ask me if I was excited!

Of course I was excited since I was about to set foot on an island I’ve never visited before in any of my previous cruises!    Therefore, I was very anxious this morning to explore Phillipsburg’s side of the island as well as later in my tour head out to Marigot the capital city on the French side of St. Martin!    You see, the island of St. Marteen is split in half; one side belonging to the Netherlands and the other side, to France!

The "Magical Highlights of Sightseeing" shore excursion was what I’ve booked along with Justin, Fiorella and the rest of her family.   Upon disembarking from the ship, we were met at the pier by a guide who brought us to a wharf close by where we immediately boarded a huge catamaran.  The fun was about to start as I settled in the back of it.

The water was crystal clear and aqua in color.   A perfect combination on a gorgeous day as today!   While relaxing at the back, I let the warm breeze slap me in my face while the sun shone way above me.   I let myself feel free like a bird while the catamaran cruised along the coastline with endless beauty!

It didn’t take me very long to move around before settling at the front of the catamaran where no one stood!   I lay on the fish net while I watched the scenes pass by.   Justin and Fiorella as well as Mili followed suit; we all had the best places for unique photos opportunities.

Drinks were passed along and while music played loudly, we made fools of ourselves dancing like crazy.    The one hour catamaran ride went by quickly and next thing we knew we were back at the wharf and well on our way to board an air-conditioned motor coach for our second leg of our shore excursion tour.

This time, we were heading towards Marigot, the French capital city of St. Martin!
