Day 14 - evening

Back in Sorrento and since we still had ample of time on our own before dinner, what else could we do but once again, wander around the city's streets within walking distance of our hotel. After all, why stay cooped inside a room while there was so much more to see and maybe buy!

Little souvenirs were purchased, stores’ merchandise inspected and more side alleys investigated.  Hehehe!   By the time we made it back to our hotel, the sky had turned grey and the sun had retreated for the night.

After a nice refreshing shower and change of clothes, I was ready once more to hit the streets.  However, this evening was a special one where we had dinner with the group.

It was exactly 7:00pm, when all left the hotel and walked with Ernesta several blocks further away before turning into a side alley where our restaurant was located right at the end of it.  "La Basilica Ristorante Pizzeria" an Italian restaurant was where we ate.

The restaurant’s exterior terrace appeared charming and inviting with its little tables and chairs which gave it that authentic Italian look.  As for the interior, the decorations and atmosphere didn’t disappoint me and made me feel immediately at home away from home!

This charming Italian restaurant proved to be very entertaining.  We had our very own entertainer who sang classical Italian songs at each of our tables while playing his guitar.  Mind that there was a reason behind this!  He was selling CDs.

Well, what can I say!  Since he did sing a song especially for me, I gladly purchased one of his CDs for $10.00US$!    Plus, he wasn’t that bad of a singer!  Ha, ha, ha!

I went on ordering a vegetarian dish full of fried vegetables which came with a little bit of a salad.   Michel had the same but with chicken included.   We chatted the evening away with the couple from Singapore who sat at our table.

We were the first ones to leave the restaurant.   I just wanted to slowly walk for one last time under Sorrento’s stars before heading back to our hotel.   After all, tomorrow morning we were heading back to Rome: our remaining days left here in Italy were now being counted!

The night had become much cooler but the hearts were warm.    High above the sky, there was a half moon smiling at us while the stars shone.  That's all that mattered!
