Day 10 (early morning)Temperature: 18 degrees
Weather: cloudy with fog
Not wanting to miss the dramatic sunrise over the Mediterranean Sea, I forced myself out of bed at 6:00am. And of course…you guessed it…. I woke Michel up in the process. After all, I needed my bodyguard and someone to take my picture! :-)
Unfortunately and much to my disappointment, of all days for it to be, this morning it was way too cloudy for me to see the sunrise and fog was in the horizon; I could hardly see the mountains on the other side of the Sea. Also, rain was in the forecast for later in the day but for this morning, I was hoping for at least a sunrise!!! "There's always tomorrow morning" I said to Michel as I tried to cheer myself up!
Since we were already outside and wide awake at this point, we simply walked along the cliff way above the Mediterranean Sea admiring the stunning views! No regrets here!
We later had a delicious buffet breakfast and took our time. Aside from another unknown couple from another tour group, we were the only ones this early in the morning having breakfast. It was 7:00am. The atmosphere was very peaceful and enjoyable….it could have went on forever but I had explorations to do, so by 7:30am, Michel and I had left the hotel and wandered down the street with the hope of finding a path that would lead us to the sea level way below.
Luckily for us, we didn’t have very far to go. A huge vacant lot where a hotel probably stood many years ago had old cemented steps built along the cliff which led all the way down to the Mediterranean Sea. I was thrilled!
Down the steps, I went, admiring every single angle. The views were stunning even though it was very cloudy and the breeze, oh the wonderful breeze; no complaints here….. it was the warm Mediterranean Sea breeze. I inhaled and exhaled cheerfully! And to think, the day was only starting!Monique :-)
