Day 8 (dawn)
Temperature: 8 degrees
Weather: grey and blue sky
From where I stood, I really thought that were heading right in the direction of the electrical wires..... but have no fear..... we were in good hands because our lady pilot, by blowing more air inside the balloon, we quickly went up, way up above them... heading this time, to another open field close by!
We were told by the lady pilot to brace ourselves, to hold on tight…for our lives Michel murmured in my ear….as she demonstrated to us the landing position for safety measures. The moment so much waited for was within minutes of happening! Casting aside the image that suddenly appeared in my head, the bird’s omen of yesterday morning…. all bent down and holding on tight to the supporting ropes, anxiously I awaited the moment for the hot air balloon to hit the ground! And then, it happened!
It was a “perfect smooth landing” and this, right on the huge trailer attached right behind a van! Talk about an excellent landing! It was a fantastic one, one in which afterwards, everyone cheered with joy and excitement! We had landed! Hip, hip, hurrah!
Now it was celebration time. A bottle of champagne…yes champagne…was opened and we all toasted to our lady pilot, to our flight, our wonderful flight over Cappadocia’s incredible landscape. Afterwards, each and every one of us received a certificate for completing a “Hot Air Balloon Tour”. This was the cherry on top of the cake!
After the festivities, we were transported back to our hotel. Altogether, the entire experience lasted four hours from the time we were up this morning to the time we arrived back at the hotel…..but I now had memories to last a lifetime! And tons of pictures as well!
It was now 8:00am. We were in the hotel’s dinning banquet room having a well-earned breakfast and recounting to the rest of the group our morning’s adventure as they listened attentively and wishing they came!
