Day 6 (mid afternoon)
Temperature: 13 degrees
Weather: sunny with clouds
On this late afternoon's day, the Tomb of Moslem Sufi, philosopher and spiritual leader was visited under comfortable weather without being too cold! The town itself bore his name Haci Bektas
! Therefore, there you go…. mystery solved! It was around 3:30pm when we arrived.
The architecture of the building was interesting.... just like every other mosque or tombs seen so far but its exterior’s uniqueness and picturesque décor gave it much more beauty. By then, the sky had decided to stay blue making it an enjoyable day after all.
Close by, several merchants waited patiently for us to browse through their souvenir shops. Making my way towards them and of course, with my bodyguard Michel right behind me, I looked around but it was a déjà vu….you see one, you’ve seen them all kind of thing! Nothing in particular caught my attention, so nothing was purchased.
By then, Michel had decided to carry my shoulder bag, how nice of him, allowing me more freedom of movement when taking pictures. Good old Michel, he now had all the money! Unaware to him, I had some in my pockets as well! Ha, ha, ha!
Aussie Rosy and I were everywhere snapping pictures and not following the group. This being as usual! So as I write this, I absolutely have no clue as to further details Daghan might have provided of the area!
Our motor coach ride continued for another hour or so where excitement and anticipation grew as the landscape kept changing and changing. We were fast approaching one of the highlights of my trip! We were nearing a region where the landscape was created around 30 million years ago when erupting volcanoes blanketed it with ash. We were about to arrive in Nevsehir, Cappadocia’s unique region, a UNESCO world heritage site!
It was 5:00pm when we arrived at the Dedeman Cappadocia Hotel, our hotel for the next two nights! Woo hoo, I yelled inside myself as this meant not living in suitcases for the next few days! Not that I didn’t enjoy sleeping in a different hotel and city every night but we were now in Cappadocia of all places to be and I definitely wanted to stay here longer! I had my very own reasons, my very own agenda!
