Day 16 (Thursday)
Temperature: 25 degrees
Weather: warm evening
In early evening, we teamed up with Justin, Fiorella, her parents and sister Mili at the "Parque Kennedy" for an exciting night around the city. Justin had previously showed us the location of the park earlier in the day which turned out to be a good ten blocks of walking distance from our hotel. By now, we had become experts and knew, I wouldn't say quite well, but we knew our way around a little bit. At least, around the Larcomar Mall!
Sitting comfortably on the top deck of the double decker tour bus, we departed on time at 6:30pm heading out into the night for an exciting tour around Lima!
Camera in hand, we passed by many beautiful Spanish architectural buildings which were quite stunning with their lights on glowing in the dark. I had done this tour two years ago but during the day whereas at night, it’s entirely another scene. We also passed in front of the Parliament buildings, San Isidro sector of beautiful homes before making an hour stop at a very popular spot…..you’ll never guess where…..well, here it goes…”The Circuito Magico Del Agua – Parque de la Reserva”, in other words to “A Magical Water Circuit” visitors attraction in the Reserva Park that had been opened since 2007!
The magical fountains were quite amazing as jets of water flew all around us in several showcases complete with movement, light and music. Each fountain had its very own name like The Rainbow Fountain, The Tunnel Fountain and many, many, more names. The colored lights made them sparkle and shine amazingly in total darkness as the water flew in unique patterns and shapes.
Back on the double decker bus, we continued down many other streets in Lima. By then, it was a little bit cooler sitting on the second deck of the bus with the wind blowing on us. We eventually came to a much appreciated stop where we all got out of the bus and headed inside the Sheraton hotel for a nice bite to eat and hot beverages to drink, all part of the tour package!
The never ending tour bus continued for a good hour in which at the end, we graciously thanked Fiorella’s parents for our lovely evening, said our goodbyes to Justin, Fiorella and Mili and started walking down the very vibrant and illuminated street in the direction of our hotel while thinking that in 24 hours from now, I would probably be freezing back home.
