Day 13 (early afternoon)
Temperature: 36 degrees (felt like 43)
Weather: Sunny, hot and humid
Brazil Tour: Day 9 - Amazon rainforest
By the time we arrived from our hike, it was noon. We quickly headed back to our lodge and after a nice refreshing shower and a quick change of clothes we met with the rest of our group and had an enjoyable lunch.
Michel and I now had several hours all to ourselves which we gladly appreciated. This allowed us time to simply relax and explore this gigantic "Amazon Eco Park Lodge" complex which we hadn't entirely visited since our arrival due to lack of time.
Several paths were taken around the complex which brought us in many different areas around here. One of them was the pool area which wasn’t at all what I had anticipated in my mind for it to look like. On the contrary, it was quite a stunning gigantic man made pool with many falls escalading into smaller pools. The natural beauty of the area made the place entirely breathtaking. The water came from one of the streams in the rainforest and had an underwater barrier which blocked anything from the water coming into the pool! One can only guess what it blocked!!
The surrounding vegetation of the rainforest reflected on the surface of the pool’s dark coloured water while lounging chairs around it looked quite welcoming. Even though the water looked quite tempting on a hot sunny humid day, I for one would not even have dared to swim in the pool, regardless of its natural beauty. Why? I couldn’t even see through the water, even less the bottom for that matter of fact! Who knows what might have been hidden down there? I’ll never know but better safe than sorry! Michel on the contrary wanted to jump in it but I was able to convince him otherwise!
Continuing our walk, another area was reached which had enticing hammocks installed in between trees. Needless to say, we rested there for a while swinging endlessly….I daydreaming of my next adventure!
