Day 12 (early evening)
Temperature: 28 degrees
Weather: quite comfortble
Brazil Tour: Day 8 - Amazon Rainforest
Full speed ahead and like a madman…..the local man drove the small motorized boat quite rapidly on the turbulent surface of the river unconcerned about us as we all laughed quite loudly with enthusiasm every time the boat jumped out of the water. He was trying to make up on time while hoping to arrive at the lodge before darkness since we had wandered very, very far away into the electrifying Amazon rainforest.
Water splashed all around me as I excitedly took pictures…..well tried anyway…of the various birds that flew out of their hiding places while others watched us go by without any concern at all. The cool fresh breeze felt really good on this hot evening night.
The sun in the sky was slowly starting its descent creating on the water's surface a silver vertical line while far away in the horizon, the puffy white clouds appeared quite low above the river giving us an illusion of glaciers. It was quite an amazing scene! Needless to say, all of this was quite exciting and relaxing at the same time!
Two hours later and under a very dark sky, we finally arrived at the lodge completely drained, a little bit soaked but still full of laughter. After a quick change of clothes, Michel and I had a well earned meal, walked around the complex for a while before finally, retreating to our lodge for the night. As thrilling as today was, tomorrow promised to be even more exciting! Stay tuned!
