Day 12 (afternoon)
Temperature: 36 degrees
Weather: hot and humid
If ever I had any doubts about being in the Amazon rainforest, well, this area definitely confirmed for a fact that I really was in it! By now, we had been cruising on the river for a good three hours and a half and were deeper than ever in the rainforest, away from civilisation, away from Manaus city.
While more tropical lush vegetation surrounded us, a lot more wildlife was encountered in the landscape which was definitely a wow factor… absolutely stunning! In other words, it was just like what you would have expected to see in the Amazon but even more magical in person! Plus, everything was so peaceful and serene except for the motor of the boat which could be heard vibrating behind me and the non-stop echoing sound of the rainforest which kept me constantly on guard with my camera!
Along the way, we cruised along many floating cabins, homes of some locals living here, living in the middle of nowhere. Not my cup of tea however, their lifestyle seemed to be of a happy one, one of a laid back style where many elderlies just sat on the porches doing nothing while women bathed their youngsters in the sand coloured river unconcerned by any alligators or piranhas.
Hand washed clothes were hanging on posts along the cabins, almost dried from the sun's rays while small dark tanned children jumped in the river having fun on a hot sunny day.
