=============================Brazil Tour: Day 3 Rio de Janeiro
Being our last day in Rio de Janeiro, I said to Michel that….what a better way to finish our stay here other than…...yes that's it…..by simply relaxing on one of the world’s most famous beach….Copacabana Beach. And that’s exactly what we did!
Swimsuits on, towels in hand, we crossed the street from our hotel under bright sunny rays. Looking all around me, tourists and locals of all different age groups were enjoying themselves by walking on the cobblestone walkway wearing quite light clothing or simply their swimsuits. It was quite obvious that size or shape did not matter! We were in Rio and that 'g string’ of a bathing suit had to be worn. For some people, well, you would have thought that they weren’t wearing any due to their excess skin hiding it! I’ll leave that to your imagination….but what a view!
As I started walking barefoot on the white powdery sand, I soon realized that due to the extreme heat, it was absolutely excruciating pain and that no way one could walk barefoot on it. It also became quite obvious that this was the reason why in several places hoses with holes in them that lead all the way to the ocean were installed and provided relief by wetting the sand.
We settled on two nice comfy long beach chairs supplied by our hotel, the Windsor Excelsior where a staff rapidly installed an umbrella in between and covered the chairs with towels. We were in for a treat! We were in heaven! Drinks please!
As time went by, it became soon apparent that… what does one do on a famous beach such as this one? Well, time is spent watching the people all around you and that’s exactly what we did which in a way turned out to be quite entertaining or should I say hilarious in some cases! Again, I’ll leave this to your imagination. There were also occasional volleyball games to watch or beach sellers wandering around selling everything from sarongs to bikinis, bags and umbrellas or drinks and beer.
By 4:00pm, we were back in the hotel preparing ourselves for a night out!
