The Medea cruise ship
In late afternoon, we all left the M.S.Medea to be driven to a shop in nearby Luxor for our little demonstration on how the ancient Egyptian form of paper (papyrus) was made from the papyrus plant. The papyrus, being a tall water plant, grew wildly along the Nile River and was cultivated specifically for this purpose, for paper-making.
It was quite interesting to learn this whole ancient process especially seeing the results first hand.
