Thank you to everyone who has commented on our blog, Beau and I really appreciate and enjoy them. Today I thought I would ramble about the bus tour from my perspective. The name of our bus is Gumdrop which makes it easy to find. All the Moms are scared of the driver, he never smiles. I will not say a bad word as he is a fabulous driver on these crazy little streets and can park anywhere. We get cursed at frequently and I have never seem him yell at the GPS or co-pilot. Plus he stalks the fridge with cold water and beer! Our tour has 47 people on a 49 passenger bus. The players sit in the back and I have claimed the 2nd seat from the front to combat motion sickness. Managing 47 people is not an easy job, so we were all given a number ( I am 6 and Beau is 28) and we count out frequently to make sure no one gets lost or left behind. It was painful at first but then I suggested we time the count and make a competition out of it. We started at 147 seconds and yesterday had best time at 39 seconds. Beau is the loudest hands down. So far the bus has only had to wait twice- once for Cass Burns for sleeping in and for me due to a skate sharpening incident. It is very rude to be late as the air conditioning on the bus is moderate at best so we have given Melfort a bad reputation- I felt horrible. On the tour there are 4 of us single parent travellers- 2 moms and 2 dads. I find this has made me more social than normal. I eat with a different group every meal and have met a CEO of an International Oil Service Co, a Police dog handler, an emergency room nurse from Calgary, a divorced couple who are traveling together with their son and a missionary with Dentists Without Borders. I am known as banker lady ( I can hear my Dad laughing as I scream silently in my head I am not a banker) and so I am continuously asked what things cost in Cdn$. Not sure how it happened but I now collect money for team water and pre ordered team food - our tour only includes 2 meals a day. There is a bathroom on the bus but use is very limited as we keep the same bus for the whole tour.

Played two games today. At 10 am we played Slovak Jokers Ice Hockey Academy and lost 3 to 1. In the last 5 mins we were losing 2 to 0 and then Beau scored making it 2 to 1. I have it on video but can only hear ping of crossbar. He made a few beauty passes and I thought we would tie it up for sure. Last 30 seconds goalie from Regina let in a dribbler but I told him to hold head high as he had strong game. At 115 we played another Czech team. It was full of action. We scored first and then right away Czech returned it. Beau made beauty assist after battle in corner to make it 2 to 1. At end of second Beau made a good clean hard hit and it resulted in a line brawl. Beau had good composure just holding Czech down and no punches. Ended up tied at 2 to 2. In-between games Theresa took me to supermarket and I bought some typical Czech treats to bring home: cookies, candy and chocolate. I drew the line at stinky cheese that smelled like hockey equipment but I did buy Svestka- plum Czech alcohol. I had fun and giggled the whole time.

I have to tell a cool Beau story. The tournament director lost his son to aids 3 months ago and he dedicated the world party in his honour. Beau went and shook his hand, thanked him for the fun experience and shared his love of hockey. The man was very emotional and told me over and over how wonderful the gesture was. In all the years he has been involved a player has never thanked him. I have attached a picture.

At 630 we departed for the cruise. It was only 19 today and supposed to rain tonight. I am looking forward to seeing downtown at night. The cruise had a buffet and we had a fish cross contamination scare. Beau and I panicked and probably worried everyone but all was ok and no medicine needed. It rained as we cruised and I enjoyed every simple moment of the night views of the places we visited earlier, great wine and a decadent dessert.

Sounds like you've had some pretty close games Beau...way to play in those hot conditions. It must cost them a fortune to keep ice. Just wondering...do all the refs speak English? And Corinna...of course they let you keep the money - you're always the responsible one! As for your partner Hungry and Alone...I hope he got the knots out and the pants on. That cracked me up!!
