Note to readers:
For those of you who have been faithfully checking the blog - blame the weather for my tardiness in providing updates. I am posting this in Great Falls Montana because over the past few weeks, every time I would go to update the site, the harvest crew would come back to camp due to a 'rain-out'.    Although we are not experiencing the same weather as the east, the west has more than normal rainfall this year!  And when Don is here, he hogs the computer!  So far, I've been unsuccessful in getting him to post his thoughts.  He says that he will before we close this chapter.

On with this post:
I've been lying low for several days as I've discovered that the dust storms in the field and the dust from the elevator just beyond the campground fence are providing me with more wheat dust than my body will tolerate - probably another reason why the blog has suffered.  However, here are some last pictures of Colorado wheat harvest - one of the most challenging landscapes that the guys have hit yet.  They will be glad to move on.  When major storms hit this area, they frequently result in hail and flash floods and the flooding results in major washouts that cut randomly across the large fields.  The pictures today were taken in a field that would be approaching 8-900 acres in one block and the crop is organic wheat that is sold at a premium that justifies the lack of weed control and fertilizer.  However, the lack of fertilizer requires that the field be allowedd frequent fallow seasons to allow the soil to recover from the season's demands on it.  Apparently the farmers in this area extensively utilize goverment programs that provide compensation for land that is taken out of production for extended periods of time.
