Today the Beast went in for some needed repairs that have been accumulating for some time - and now we have exterior steps that work thanks to the replacement step controler that the Monaco dealer had in stock!  It's a good job because yesterday we drove off and left the step stool in the parking lot at Camping World. We also knew that we had a water leak at the front of the coach after it rained 3.75 inches one night in Talahasee, Florida.  Turns out a portion of the windshield seal had shifted. It was easily repaired and now hopefully no more leaks! The radio is working once again - ask Don about that!  Also lots of ongoing maintanence questions answered that Newbe RV'er need to know to keep everthing working properly.  We have nothing but praise for this Monaco dealership.  Thanks Mike!
While the Beast was occupied we took a trip to Gruene, a restored 19th century town and had an excellent lunch at the Grist Mill.  We browsed through the general store and the music hall - where many Texas musicians got their start
We decided to try another park rather than go back to Hill Country.  We would recommend Hill Country but would suggest that River Ranch is best saved for a quick overnight stop when everything else is full - unless it is cool enough that your windows are closed.  This park is located under the I35, and while the concrete pads and services are excellent, it has two drawbacks - if it is wet season, it is located in the flood plain and it has a lot of road noise from the highway!
While here we had our first encounter with fire ants - thankfully a neighbour noticed and knew where to get the compound they use to control them.  I gather that,  with everything so dry in this area, they are everywhere.
