We headed to St. Augustine to play tourist again. After a quick drive through the heritage area we decided to sign up for the trolley that runs throughout the downtown. There is a lot to see here. Don's knees are causing him considerable discomfort and he doesn't feel up to a lot of walking today. We started with a visit to the Fountain of Youth - Will the waters reverse the stiffening in our joints? Once again we are glad we are seeing these places out of season - no line-ups and crowds. Then we moved on to the old jailhouse and the historical museum to learn more about the developmental history of the city. Although the air was quite damp and the off-shore fog was moving inland, we decided to ride the length of the trolley route to do an overview of the rest of the city. Exiting the trolley near St. George St., we are glad that we had decided to leave the fort until tomorrow - it's almost hidden with fog. We grabbed a late lunch and then walked through some of the shops along the pedestrian mall. In one shop, while admiring a new line of decorative china, we chatted with some other visitors re RV stories and they had us in stitches. Apparently the storyteller's brother-in-law was one of those people who seemed to attract misfortune. We have tickets to the Spanish living interpretation site but will leave our visit until tomorrow. We are learning that when we book in we really should book for at three nights not two - we always seem to need that second day between sightseeing opportunities and time required for housekeeping and other daily tasks!
