We decide to check out the Old Town Center in Scottsdale. I was told before we left that there were few fibre art exhibits to be found but I discovered an online listing for a Textile Gallery that I want to check out. We would love to do the Thursday evening art walk some week but I suspect that will have to wait for another time. The gallery was great and there was a fabulous show by a group of artist from the east coast. There was even some wearable art! The to the gallery site is http://www.artspaceaz.com/ and follow the links to view some of the great work
One of my favorite stops in Scottsdale is to the tented artshows found on the northern section of Scottsdale road. There are two and we have visited both in the past. Both shows feature the artists working on site and run from mid January to end of March. They are great and worth setting aside a day to visit. Both shows merit several hours of your timeand feature internationally recognized artists. The show we visited this year can be found at http://www.celebrateart.com/ and the other one at http://www.arizonafineartexpo.com/
I also managed to squeeze in a visit to the Arizona State Quilt Show. This show was similar to the Canadian Quilter's Association Show that is held every second year some where in Canada. The work was mostly traditional quilting, with some wearable art and fabric art pieces. They allow photos and I ran out of battery power before I was done.
