We started the day late and planned to just explore San Francisco city a little more today. We headed to the cable car station where we were going to take it over to Pier 39 in north beach to get some lunch.

After seeing the queue for the cable car we decided to take the bus instead! It took maybe 10 minutes to get to north beach and was a short walk to the water.

Immediately we were faced with a huge selection of seafood stalls. They seemed to be selling all sort of fresh seafood, crab, shrimp and what looked most enticing was the clam chowder served in a large scooped out bread roll. It looked great but we wanted something a bit more substantial as we had skipped breakfast. Maybe we could squeeze one in later...

We found a place called the Franciscan Crab Restaurant that looked great and served us some great seafood.

Ok enough about food already! We carried on along the water front towards pier 39 and there seemed to be a variety of street performers. We stopped to watch a bunch of guys doing a street dance show. They seemed to be keen on highlighting their multi cultural background, black, Chinese, Russian, Mexican etc. And gave a warning to the kids in the audience "White kids don't try this at home, you’ll die. Black kids, do whatever you want!". It was all done in good humour and a great show to watch.

At this point we had reached pier 39. It was full of shops and entertainers and more food (waffles smelt great!) and a bit sheltered from the San Francisco wind so quite a bit warmer. We explored a little before realising it was late and having to rush back to collect our rental car for the next part of our journey. We managed after some walking to jump on the cable car which took us directly back to the rental place.

After doing all the paperwork we went to view the car in lot 18, it was better than I expected as it was the car I was told they did not have available. A Dodge Charger! After going back to the desk and accepting the car I heard them give away their last Mustang to the next couple! So close, but maybe we’ll get the Mustang in Houston, for now it was exciting to get the Charger!

We parked the car for the evening and headed yet again to the Cheesecake Factory, this time we shared a main and a desert. The food here is really excellent!

Now to get some rest as we are up at 5:30am to drive to Yosemite National Park.
