Easter is not my favourite time of year..

Is was a bit sad leaving Tampere. Asta is a really cool chick and a top host! I am so glad I finally got to meet her. I knew she would be nice.. she shares the same crazy musical tastes as me! She definitely made our stay in Tampere enjoyable.

We left Asta's place with the intention of heading to Turku and then onto a ferry across to Stockholm. First though.. we needed to make some reservations on the trains from Stockholm to Copenhagen.. and then Copenhagen to Cologne. This is where we came unstuck!

We didn't realise that trying to book reservations on a long weekend like Easter would be such a hassle. The crowds at the train station were phenomenal! We tried to book a train.. ANY train from Stockholm over the course of the weekend.. but to no avail. ALL trains were booked out! What were we going to do.

Andrew remembered seeing a ferry from somewhere in Finland to somewhere in Germany. Since Germany was where we were heading.. we decided it was probably our only sure fire way of getting there in time for our flight home.

Andrew made a mad dash to the Tallink office in Tampere and bought two tickets from Helsinki to Rostock. The tickets cost us 255€ for the two of us. Quite expensive really.. and that was with 30% discount because we were Eurail pass holders!

We didn't have much time! As it was.. we needed to get ourselves to Helsinki.. and then a taxi to the ferry terminal some 40km away. We were already at the train station.. so all we needed to do was board the first available train to Helsinki. We just missed it! The next one was about 30 mins later.

Once we got to Helsinki.. it was straight outside and into a taxi. The first waiting taxi at the cvab rank was a BMW 5 Series! It was nice. The driver spoke English very well.. and attributed it to the Finnish eduction system. I have heard it is amongst the best in the world.. certainly much better than our schooling system in Australia.

We made it to the ferry terminal just in the nick of time. And that was a good thing too.. as we already paid for the ferry tickets and if we hadn't of made it in time.. it would have been a case of "too bad.. so sad".

This ferry was more of a car ferry than the first ship we took.. but nonetheless it looked like a cruise ship.. inside and out. There were a lot less people on this ship too. The boat from Stockholm to Turku is much cheaper I think.. and a bit of a party boat for young Swedes. This was more for families. I preferred this ship.

We decided not to eat the buffet dinner. As nice as it seemed.. we just had some simple foods from the snack shop instead. We may have the buffet tomorrow.

I went outside onto the deck for a smoke. The sea breeze made the air extremely cold. It was until I came back inside that I realised the ship had a smoking room inside! Oh well.

Another great thing about this ship is that it had wifi! Such a blessing.. as we were set to travel onboard for 26 hours!

Andrew was tired and went to sleep sometime before midnight. I wanted to try and stay awake as long as possible. I chatted for a couple of hours with my girlfriend and then my eyes grow heavy.

At around 2am.. I crashed out.
