This was by far the best day of our trip so far.. and it will take a lot to top it!

After a few phone calls.. Manuel organised a car for us to use for the day. Our destination.. Le Moléson in the Gruyéres region.

Unfortunately.. Manuel doesn't have a drivers licence yet (he hasn't needed one because he doesn't own a car and public transport is good). So.. he called on a friend named Firoz.. an Indian who has been living in Switzerland for the past 3 years.. to drive the car.

Before leaving Fribourg.. Manuel had some business to attend to in a part of Fribourg refered to as "the old town". We didn't have much time but we had a quick look around regardless.

The drive was a strange experience.. our first time in a left hand drive car. Travelling on the "wrong side" took some getting used to.

Le Moléson is the largest mountain in the area.. approximately 2,500m tall. It is nowhere near as tall as some of the better known mountains in the Swiss Alps.. Matterhorn is close to 5,000m tall. Nonetheless.. Le Moléson was impressive!

We took a steep rail carriage and then a cable car to the summit which was fun. At the summit we ate cheese fondue made from Gruyére cheese.. and washed it down with some tea and white wine.

Shortly after.. we took a walk up to the very peak. It was only a short hike.. a few hundred metres.. but the air is thin up there and we had to navigate our way through mud and snow so it was still a bit challenging. But it was worth the effort. It was like being on top of the world!

We soaked in the view for a while and then proceeded to return down the mountain. Back in the car.. we stopped at the place they make the famous Gruyére cheese.. La Maison Du Gruyére.

Once back in Fribourg we went to visit Anna.. the lady who lent us the car. She generously offered us drinks.. including some amazing liquors. We wanted to stay longer.. but we had to make a mad dash to the station. We had a night train to catch.

Next stop.. Prague!
